2002 Bay Horse

Quasimodo is a 7 year old son of the incomparable A. P. Indy.  A.P. Indy has been leading sire twice, and is the sire of over 113 stakes horses, including such exceptional racehorses as Rags to Riches, Bernadini, Music Note and Horse of the Year Mineshaft.  A.P. Indy is from one of the leading sire lines worldwide, and has taken over his sire Seattle Slew's incredible legacy.  A.P. Indy's progeny have proven themselves to be incredibly fast, with the ability to run over just about any surface you put them on.

Quasimodo's female side, believe it or not, is even more exciting.  Let's start with Quasimodo's dam, the Theatrical daughter Miss Lenora.  Miss Lenora ran 12 times in her career, winning 4 races and earning over $102,000.  Her most impressive victory came in the prestigious GIII Bewitch Stakes.  Miss Lenora is a half to stakes winners Ozal and Madeleine's Dream.  While her half sister Kyka did not make it to the races, she has been a stellar producer.  Her colt Daytona, who is now a multiple graded stakes winner of close to a million dollars, has won such top turf races as the Shoemaker Mile S. - GI, the Hollywood Derby - GI and the Oak Tree Derby - GII.

Miss Lenora's dam was the brilliant L'Attrayante.  L'Attrayante was an incredibly durable racemare, running from the ages of 2 to 6.  She earned over $720,000 and won or placed in 19 of 27 starts.  Her victories include the Irish 1000 Guineas- GI, Poule D'essai Des Pouliches - GI, Countess Fager H. -GIII, Merry Madeleine H. and the Golden Poppy H.  Additionally, L'Attrayante won or placed in over 18 other graded and regular stakes races!  There was no doubt about her ability or her toughness.  The fact that she then went on to produce three graded stakes horses is definitely noteworthy.

Miss Lenora herself has already produced two stakes horses.  The first was her Jade Hunter colt Tangazi.  Tangazi was a hard running MGSP colt with earnings of over $325,000.  Miss Lenora's next stakes horse was the very nice filly Stylish.  Stylish, a daughter of Thunder Gulch, started out showing some promise as a 2 and 3 year old.  She then returned as a 4 year old to take the Citgo Distaff Turf Mile S. - GIII and the Rockingham Breeder's Cup H., while placing in multiple grade III stakes races.  During her 5 year old year, Stylish got even better, winning the Ballston Spa Breeders' Cup Handicap G3 , Eatontown Handicap -G3 and the Lady Canterbury Breeders' Cup S.

Now we come to Quasimodo.  Bred in KY by Madeleine A. Paulson and Ernest Moody, Quasimodo was slow to mature, having some success at 3 on the dirt.  At 4, trainer Julio Canani decided to switch him to turf, and he responded by winning four in a row.  He matured and improved even more coming into his 5 year old year, and ended 2008 with 4 more wins, with 3 of them now on the dirt.  Quasimodo raced a total of 30 times in his career, with 8 wins and earnings of close to a quarter of a million dollars.

Quasimodo's pedigree offers you a cross to horses that can run on both dirt and turf, and have both speed and stamina.  On top of that, you have a stallion that was consistent, durable and tough throughout his career in a time when horses are retiring at 2 and 3 years old from injury.

An interesting side note is the proven cross between Fappiano line horses, specifically Quiet American, and A.P. Indy.  Both Bernardini and A.P. Warrior are A.P. Indy sons out of Quiet American daughters.  We are offering incentive considerations to mares by Quiet American, please contact us to discuss this offer.

Quasimodo is owned by Orion Stables, and will be standing the 2010 season for $2,000.
